Beginning in 1966 as the St. Timothy
Players presenting shows in the St. Timothy Church hall, the North
Toronto Players has entertained many thousands, primarily with the
works of Gilbert & Sullivan. As the productions have grown
and their requirements have changed, so has our venue; moving first to
the Lawrence Park Community Church hall, then to Lawrence Park
Collegiate, to Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts, and most recently to Leah Posluns Theatre. In
2008 we will be performing in the superb City Playhouse, part of the
Benjamin Vaughan Complex.
The NTP has built up a
reputation of providing exciting, new twists on classic G&S
musicals - our recent shows have
included a ‘wild west’ adaptation of The
Mikado,the action-packed Yeomen
of the Guard and a fun-filled, lively adaptation of The Pirates of
Penzance.
Over the years, our emphasis has not changed: a warm welcome to all our
members and a commitment to providing quality entertainment.
